King Township will once again assist seniors ages 65 and older and individuals with disabilities through its specialized snow removal assistance program, which helps residents clear snow from the end of their driveway, if they are unable due to age or disability. Eligible residents can now apply for this service either in person, by mail, or online through the Township’s dedicated Senior Snow Removal Assistance Application platform. The deadline to submit an application for the 2024/2025 season is Friday, Oct. 18. Late applications will not be accepted.
The service operates Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, and aims to clear snow within 24 hours after municipal snow plows have completed their work on roads and sidewalks. The service is only triggered when a minimum of 10 centimetres of snow has fallen. To receive the service, qualified applicants must ensure that their driveways are free from obstructions and that their house numbers are clearly visible. This facilitates prompt and efficient snow clearing, which is focused on the snow deposited by street plows at the end of driveways.
