There is a long awaited overview of how the Township Offices can be moved to the former Holy Name site on King Road in a report on July 6 Council agenda. Understanding how this project can be tackled and executed in a fiscally sustainable and responsible manner is important. As reviewed in the report the cost can be high (minimum $11-13 million); hence, it needs to carefully scoped out and controlled. And work needs to be commenced, in parallel to realize the revenues will largely fund it: namely, sale of current Township Offices. As indicated in the report, three options, with details, will be presented at the August 24 Council meeting.
I strongly encourage you to review this report and let me know your questions and ideas as soon as possible; hearing from you will help me to better assess this significant initiative. I am convinced that a move to larger quarters is required (actually overdue.) And I consider the former Holy Name site to be excellent new location. The question is how to do it in a fiscally responsible manner; and how do we maximize this opportunity of creating a new public building. Here is what I have written previously about the acquisition of the property.
