Animal Control…new By-law

A new by-law covering many aspects of animal control is on the agenda for September 19 Council.  The draft was reviewed at June 12 Council meeting; feedback and comments from Council and public have been addressed an appropriately incorporated in this new by-law.  One important change is the ability to respond to  a threatening dog before it bites or attacks someone; and I am impressed with the number of different possible responses depending on the specifics.  I also think the expansion of the by-law to includes cats is appropriate.  I think the fee structure is appropriate and its nice to see that it is comparatively low vs other municipalities.  Finally as I mentioned in earlier post, this new by-law incorporates provisions currently identified in a variety of different by-laws; hence it will be much easier your people to find out where King Township stands on the issue of animal control.

If you wish to provide feedback please come to the Council meeting and/or send your comments to me.   Here is the report with the new by-law.
