By-law amendents For Better Enforcement

On November 24 council agenda there Is a report recommending amendments to certain bylaws to assist with enforcement matters. The report explains How the proposed amendment will facilitate enforcement. I am in agreement with the proposed changes and am particularly pleased to see the amendment to the large scale event by-law.  To my mind the amendment is really an amendment for clarity; and there have been incidents which demonstrate that clarity was lacking and that impacted ability to enforce.

The by-laws that are proposed for amendment include:

  • Parking By-law 2005-36 to include provisions prohibiting parking vehicles on front lawns and prohibiting parking derelict vehicles on municipal roadways.
  • Delegated Authority By-law 2022-009 to allow the Manager of By-law Services to appoint Municipal Weed Inspectors.
  •  Large-Scale Event By-law 2021-078 to include that no owner can host a largescale event without obtaining proper permits and approvals.
  • Administrative Monetary Penalty System By-law 2022-040 to update Schedule A and B to include further penalties for enforceabilit

To read the specific bylaw go to the Council agenda and scroll down to agenda item 13.

As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on  November 24 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
