On May 29 council agenda there is a report recommending how to disburse the 2023 Community Grant funds. As reviewed the total budget is $23,000 of which $4,750 is pre-approved for 4 community events. The balance of $18,250 is for distribution to volunteer/non profit groups in King. Applications for grants have been reviewed per the corporate policy. I am somewhat surprised that there were so few applications. And although I do not doubt the value of the work by Big Brothers, Big Sisters I don’t understand how it fits the eligibility criteria in the policy. Given the recommended grants there is still $4,950 to be disbursed in 2023; if there is a community group who did not apply because they missed the deadline I recommend that they make an application over the next several months; as of 10/31 unallocated funds will be dispersed per the policy to United Way with directed support.
As always, I am interested in your comments. If you wish to make a deputation or to send a message/questions to Council please register or send the email by noon May 19 to clekrs@king.ca.
