On March 30 Public Planning Council meeting an application is being reviewed for lands east of Keele St. with frontage on Clearview Crescent, Patricia Dr. and Keele. The application is for a zoning by law amendment to facilitate the redevelopment of the subject properties for the construction of a six story residential condominium apartment containing 41 dwelling units. The proposal is that it should be a residential condominium apartment building and it would include a mix of studio apartments and one to three bedroom units. As reviewed in the report this use of land is consistent with What is permitted in this area which is deemed a transit station area as it is across from the GO train station. To access all the appendices go to Council agenda and scroll down to 6.1.
I am supportive of the pros of the proposal and I’m very pleased to see a variety of unit size. I will be asking for clarification about parking. And I want to know more about the set back from Keele St. which in essence is essentially a set back from the GO train station. Is the proposed set back adequate?
As this is a public planning meeting no decisions will be made except for referring it back to staff to complete the review incorporating feedback received from the public and Council an from the agencies who are reviewing the application. As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on March 30 or if you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.

Thank you, Debbie, for your approach to keeping the community updated on matters before Council!! On this application, I am very much in favour of residential development and density around and near transit corridors, particularly GO trains!! On the proposed unit mix, I would suggest that you consider asking/pressing on the number of studio and 1-bedroom vs 2 and 3 bedroom units, with a clear preference for 2 and 3 bedroom units. We need more housing options for families, particularly in this area.
You are right… there is need for residential units for families. I will ask about proponents thinking on the matter.
