On April 14 Council agenda there is a staff report recommending refusal of a request for an exemption to enable hunting at 6610 King Rd. Given the information provided in the report I see no reason for granting the request. Our Bylaw law covering discharge of firearms and bows was approved in 2014 with the objective of ensuring safety by prohibiting discharge within close proximity of urban residential zones.
I am interested in the proposal to modify the Bylaw enabling exceptions. As I was on Council when this bylaw was implemented it’s my guess that section 12, which enables exceptions, was included as it was a very new consideration (to establish zones where such was restricted.) I don’t recall that we have considered any requests for exemptions in the last 11 years.
As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on April 14 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
