On April 11 Council agenda there is a staff report recommending policies regarding emails sent and received by the Township. As reviewed in the report there has been extensive engagement with other municipalities and different agencies including the Province. The statistics certainly demonstrate a need for a policy: in a 30 day timeframe King received 120,000 emails and sent over 40,500. As there is likely comparable statistics in other municipalities it is somewhat shocking to read that to date there hasn’t been more attention to this; I take pride in that King established and has led a working group consisting of 10 other municipalities and their record professionals in the development of the draft policy. if you wish to comment on this report and or make a deputation please contact clerks@king.ca by noon on Monday April 11.
