Hwy 11 Corridor

On Council agenda for March 21 there is a staff report recommending various actions to provide a policy framework to facilitate the revitalization of the HWY 11 corridor and promote opportunities for economic development within it.  The actions include an official plan amendment and an amendment to the countryside zoning bylaw. As reviewed in the report there has been significant public consultation including numerous meetings with stakeholders in the corridor.  The study, which provides the basis for these actions, was identified in the policies of Our King, our official plan.  There was a lot of complexity to the study because of the numerous provincial legislation and policies applicable to  corridor. From my reading of the report I can see that the ability of land owners to create economic value has been increased and at the same time the value of the land in terms of agricultural value and environmental value is being protected.

To see all the appendices with the report go to the council agenda and scroll to 8.1

As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on  March 17 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
