Invasive Species

Take Community Services’ survey about invasive  species. The data collected from it will inform Community Services educational efforts moving forward in relation to invasive species, such as fact sheets, workshops and hands-on removal/mitigation efforts.

Community Services is developing an Invasive Species Management Strategy (ISM) which  is the first action identified in the natural environment theme of the King Community Climate Action Plan; the objective of the natural environment theme is to support the protection, restoration, and enhancement of natural systems to foster climate resiliency.

Even though their strategy is not complete we can report where we see invasive species.  I will be reporting where I see phragmites.  Please add your observations of them and others which you identify.

This is a very positive and timely initiative by King Township. I’m glad to see this featured in the King Community Climate Action Plan. I’m also happy to spread the word and encourage people across King Township to participate in the survey. Thank you for sharing this Debbie.
