Nobleton Community Hall

On the agenda for Dec. 11 council meeting there is a memo from Director of Community services advising Council that the staff report about the consideration of the repealing bylaw of the heritage designation for the Nobleton Community hall has been deferred till early 2024.

No, the notice did not say until “early January 2024”. It said “early 2024”. The assessments that are required will likely take longer than 1 month to complete. The assessments must be done by a qualified Heritage professional and a lot of detail must be done before a designated heritage property can be delisted.

Until Council has actually made a decision on whether or not to repeal the heritage designation, the Nobleton Community Hall should be available for rent. I know one person who would like to sign a long term lease to rent the Upper Level for yoga and exercise classes. It would be perfect for that with the great floors and all the mirrors along 2 walls.

I notice in the fees and schedules passed that there is no mention of the Nobleton Community Hall. As far as that report is concerned, Council has already decided. This is wrong!

Removal of the Nobleton Community Hall from the rental list could be characterized as intentional nonuse.
Note: this building is the only Depression-era institutional heritage structure in the Township of King.

Hello Robin, I understand your point about “intentional non use.” I believe there has been some communication between another resident and Staff about this matter.
