Original Nobleton Junior Public School

The property owner (York Region District School Board) of the original Nobleton Junior Public School has applied to demolish the building.  As it is listed on the Municipal Registry the application requires approval from the Council using advice from the Staff who has reviewed it with the Heritage Advisory Council (HAC).  As a member of HAC I can report that there was considerable discussion about this application.  Ultimately HAC did determine to recommend demolition with several conditions to ensure that the cultural history of the School is not lost.  Here is the report which reviews the both the cultural history and recommendations on how not to lose it.

There was a reference to the Old Nobleton Scholl land property being ‘developed’,.
    ‘Developed’ by the township?

Hello John, The property is owned by YRDSB. We (i.e. HAC) assume that School Board intends to sell. The buyer will likely want to develop; hence the comment about “redevelopment.”
