Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

Small Property Tax Policy Change: vacant units
There is a Staff report recommending elimination of the vacant unit rate rebate program. As indicated the decision itself has little material impact because it has not been used significantly. A source of funding for those interested to run for election in Municipal Councils in Ontario was eliminated in 2016: donations from corporations and unions are no longer acceptable. This was done to reduce outside influence that is often centered on private...
Builder for Project Move
At Council on Wednesday, Aug. 9 there is staff report recommending the contractor to build the new municipal offices and community facility. There is report recommending a contractor to build it. As reported the bid for the project including 2 additional options totals $13,078,450 is within the budget. I think the two additional options of a wood athletic floor in the gym and a curtain...
