Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

OPA for NE Quadrant of King City
On 7/11 Council agenda there is a staff report recommending approval of an Official Plan Amendment (OPA) covering the development south of 15th Sideroad west side of Dufferin. This is very important to King City given its size (land size of 204 hectares, nearly 1000 residential units). Since the May 2nd public meeting there have been important modifications to the plan in response to public and...
Clean Yards By-law–draft for approval
As I have expressed earlier I think I welcome the regulatory changes being made to establish and enforce private property maintenance. With the new clean yards by-law it will be far easier for someone to understand the expectations, the standards; and it will be more efficient to achieve compliance when violations are identified. The Staff report identifies changes made to the draft by-law as...
Nobleton Zoning By-law–final draft
On the July 11 Council agenda there is a report with the final draft of the new Nobleton Zoning By-law (ZBL) with a recommendation to Council to approve it. As I have indicated in other posts, the zoning by-laws for the Township are in desperate new of revision; Nobleton is the first and in many respects will be the template for the others. (e.g. same new/updated definitions will be used.) I...
Learning and Recommendations of Mayor’s Task Force
On Council agenda for July 11 there is a summary of findings and recommendations from the Mayor's Task Force on High Risk & Dangerous Offenders. The summary of the findings, which is based on the numerous presentations made to the task force by various agencies (both government and private) is very informative. Like most people, I suspect, I was fairly ignorant of the processes for...
