Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

Motion on review of ORMCP and GB–update
My motion that a letter should be sent to Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing requesting that the process for reviewing the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan (ORMCP) and the Greenbelt Plan (GB) be identified was passed unanimously at July 8th Council. Both these plans, along with the Niagara Escarpment, are to be reviewed in 2015. As nearly 70% of the lands of King Township are...
Supporting Anti-SLAPP Legislation–update
My motion to support the Anti-SLAPP legislation introduced in June passed with a 6/1 vote at Council on July 8th. SLAPP suits (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation), or the fear/risk of such, are very effective in tempering the degree to which citizens challenge applications for development. You can read the motion by going to the “Record” e-page showing at the top of this...

You can read the motion by going to the “Record” e-page showing at the top of this website; or, you can click here.
