Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

A lead option is to repurpose the existing...

SLAPP suits (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation), or the fear/risk of such, are very effective in tempering the degree to which citizens challenge applications for development. This risk is there as usually the proponent is a Corporation with “deep pockets” which...
How will the ORMCP and GB be reviewed?
At last Council meeting I gave notice of a motion that a letter should be sent to Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing requesting that the process for reviewing the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan (ORMCP) and the Greenbelt Plan (GB) be identified. Both these plans, along with the Niagara Escarpment, are to be reviewed in 2015. The whole premise of our Sustainability Plan is that...
