Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

A Main Street Christmas will light up Schomberg on Saturday, Dec. 2 starting at 3 p.m. Featuring lively street performers, carolers, fireside readings, children's crafts, a Christmas marketplace, festive treats, Santa’s Parade and a Farmer’s Parade of Lights. If you have not done so as of yet I recommend you register to receive the King Bulletin. The December one has just landed in my own inbox this morning; its jammed with information such as the date for registering for winter recreation, holiday closures, survey about the noise bylaw which is under review and much more.

Budget 2024 at Council
The draft budget and business plan calls for a municipal tax increase of 5.49%. Proposed budget represents an increase of $2.127 million; 1/3 ($.673 million) is to pay for program changes. Having reviewed the justifications for the latter I have come round to seeing the value of the changes and in some cases I understand that they are very much needed.
