Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

New Planning Processes in Response to Bill 109
On September 12 Council agenda there is a report reviewing how Planning staff proposes to operate given the mandated shorter review times and possible financial penalties for not complying with the new timelines. These are in place due to the Bill 109 and Amendments to the Planning Act. As the Bill and Amendments are now in place I will not further comment on likelihood of the desired outcome...
Trail Naming
On Council agenda for September 12th there is a very satisfying report recommending that a section of the King City Trail be identified as “King City: Moir Trail.” This recognition of Barry Moir is very appropriate. As reviewed in the report Mr Moir has made numerous contributions to his community. I know that his legacy of contribution to the King City Trails is one which future generations...
Contributions For Building the New Recreation Centre
September 12 Council agenda includes two reports about principles for Municipal Capital Facility Agreements (MCFA’s). One is with Zancor in relation to their development at 2075 King Road and the other one is with Keele West Developments in relation to their developments on Keele. I certainly welcome these developers contributing to the capital cost of building the new Township Wide Recreation...
Capital Projects: status and close report
On September 12 Council agenda there is a report Identifying capital projects to be closed and allocation of any surplus funds. Reading this report provides confidence that our capital dollars are being well managed. I also see evidence of King Staff being creative in how they are responding to supply chain challenges: there was a budget for buying a new single axle 4x4 dump truck but it could...
