On June 28th council agenda there is a report recommending a permit process for large scale events (250 persons) on private properties. To my mind there is no question that we should have a comprehensive permit process; I think the proposed process and fee is entirely reasonable. Because of the pandemic restrictions there have not been such events in King for nearly two years but it’s entirely reasonable to assume that they will resume. It is not as though there were no procedures etc hisorically but the would be organizer/host did not have access to a procedural guide so that they could see up front what would be required. I do want to understand how an approved permit is publicized so that community is alerted; and, I’m curious whether it would be possible to have a clear time schedule for any planned fireworks so that those in the immediate neighborhood are not taken by surprise.
