Street Parking on King Road: fantasy or real option?

Nov 2, 2011 | Uncategorized | 2 comments

Having King Road finally paved in King City is cause to rejoice.  But, for me, all that fresh smooth asphalt reminded me (again) how the drive- through traffic dominates the village.  And I can only wait for the complaints that there is more speeding now as the construction equipment is gone.  Hence I was very pleased to hear the notice of motion at the 11/1 Council to request York Region Transportation Services Committee to investigate and report upon options for street parking on King Road east of Keeled through to Banner Lane, on both north and south sides, during off peak hours.   The motion also includes similar analysis for the Hwy 27 and King Road intersection i.e. both north and south and east and west.

This motion will be debated at November 14th Council.

Hi Debbie… If subject of KC traffic and parking are discussed, there should be a review of parking on East side of Keele across from Hogans. In front of the Anglican church there is no parking yet as one approaches King Road wanting to make a right turn, there are parked cars forcing merge again and delaying flow of traffic.

Hi Fred, I expect that the traffic pattern you have identified will be addressed in the work YR will be doing at the intersection of Keele/King Road to identify turning lanes etc. Thanks for flagging it.
