About a week ago I answered a comment on my blog requesting an update about whistle cessation. It has occurred to me that not everyone reads questions & answers so I am repeating it here. It is also consistent with what I have been telling people when I have been door knocking as part of my re-election campaign. There is now firm plan on part of Metrolinx and King Staff as to specific actions required to set the stage for the Township applying for whistle cessation. The first critical step is done: assessment of physical features which need to be done in order to be safe for persons crossing the tracks. This includes new gates, flashing lights, line painting on roads. Installation of these features is underway. Once done the Township will go through various administrative steps to then apply to Transport Canada for approval.
