On November 2 Council agenda there is a report from the Fire Chief recommending an update by-law to regulate open air burning in the Township. Other than the administrative changes to make the application process better (for client and for Staff) the changes are pretty minor in that the restricted zones are being enlarged in response to growth in the villages. I am going to be seeking a better definition of “recreational burning” as the By-law seems to suggest that such is either something like a campfire for which the maximum dimensions are indicated or an outdoor fireplace. Today there are many options/variations of the latter and there are also outdoor pizza ovens; how does the by-law address all this? Here is the report and the new by-law.
