One pass—countless opportunities for you and your family to play! A monthly RecPass gets residents unlimited access to drop-in recreational programming—including swimming, aquafit, skating, shinny hockey, sports and access to fitness equipment and classes. The RecPass is valid at all King Township recreation facilities.

Having toured the facility, I do have a major concern about the co’ed change room and shower facilities. I personally felt the area could facilitate an opportunity for harassment. It took me awhile to realize while standing in the change room and shower area that it was not designated as specifically for males or females. The field house is impressive but sadly lacks ample space for fitness equipment related to strength and conditioning one would normally associate with a multi-million township wide recreation facility. The RecPASS is affordable! And, it was nice to see seniors participating in recreational skating although I noted the absence of assistive devices for novices. Two pools appeared useful for a variety of aquatic uses. Staff very helpful and informative!
Hello Sheila, Glad you have checked out the Zancor Centre. 1. Regarding your concern about harassment in the co’ed change room. Did you observe that when a person is not in their private cubicle there is no privacy because of all the glass walls. Idea being that visibility will discourage bad behavior. To clarify…I know that some schools are dealing with the problem of harassment in school washrooms where the doors into the washrooms are solid (totally opaque) and hence one cannot see what is occurring in the washroom without entering. Doors are being changed. 2. I thought there was the option of gender specific shower areas; I need to go back and have a look. 3. Yes, we did not duplicate the services offered at the Trisan Centre, specifically a fitness centre. There were tough choices as to what to include in Zancor; the choices were made with consideration of feedback from surveys and what I would call “fiscal responsibility.” By the latter I mean consideration of the ongoing operational/maintenance costs. Council worked hard to not burden today’s tax payers with the cost to build the new centre but we were well aware that future residents and users will need to pay for it to maintain it. Being sensitive to property tax pressures on residents necessitates trying to minimize duplication of assets. Also there was the constraint of footprint size.
