Revised draft zoning by-law is now available for your review; it will be on June 26 agenda for Council adoption. Based on feedback zoning by-law no longer encompasses all 3 villages; Nobleton will continue to be regulated by the zoning by-law passed in 2016. The new one for King City and Schomberg builds on the framework developed for the Nobleton one with modifications to reflect local specifics. For all the villages the new zoning by-laws is our best tool for protecting the character of our established older neighbourhoods which are threatened with severances and/or houses over-sized compared to others on the street. You can read the proposed new zoning by-law here and all the background documents.
In this final draft I believe that ability to severe lots has been improved for those lots identified as being R1. As evident when you look at the maps there are many older established neighbourhoods zoned as R1; some of them have relatively largely lots. The proposed zoning by-law identifies that the lot size must continue to be as it is on the day the by-law passes.
