Date: Saturday, August 18, 2012
Location: Seneca College King Campus, King City

What a great way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors of King Township:  watch the 40 dragon boat teams beat drums and splash the water with their paddles to make it to the finish line, all in support of United Way.   In addition to the races, you and your family can enjoy beach volleyball, tug-o-war tournament, children’s village, kids’ building workshop and BBQ throughout the day.

And what a great way to be part of the 2012 United Way fund raising campaign as the dragon boats are racing to raise money! I am a huge supporter of United Way as it is such a cost effective agency:  84% of dollars raised is invested in programs in York Region.

There is no entrance fee to the festival; parking is complimentary.

 Some background:

The Toromont CAT Dragon Boat Festival in support of United Way York Region, is a friendly competition of canoe racing among a cross-section of the region’s business community. Supporters, representing various industries, come out to play and paddle in this annual race.

Dragon Boats are the world’s largest flat water racing canoes, propelled by individual crews of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steers person. Synchronicity is more important than strength, as paddlers move in unison combining strength with teamwork.
