Such a timely missive! Those bins are the talk of the community. While I appreciate the cost benefits, I did call GFI with a host of my issues, and got only scripted rebuttals to my points about a looong uphill rural gravel driveway with no bin storage at the top of the hill, or ploughing away major snowfalls; my suv not able to accommodate the size of bin, not to mention this old lady not being able to lift it in anyway.

I patiently await the results of your efforts with thanks for trying.

Since the township is saving on the recycling expense, will this savings be passed on to us the tax payers in the form of lower property taxes?

Hello John, good question. I cannot answer at this point; you can be sure I’m going to be finding out.

    Hi Debbie,
Of interest, Simcoe County has had the carts on wheels for recycling, organics and garbage for some time and offers smaller options for the recycling bin (240 L and 120 L) and one smaller option for the garbage bin (120 L). See the web page for Simcoe and scroll down.

Hoping to see a good resolution. : )

Hi Bruce, just yesterday somebody was telling me about Simcoe and the choices they had.

What I would like to see is the actual recycling of most of the items in the blue boxes. We are still far behind and way too much is either landfilled, burned or sent to third world countries. That practice must stop.
