In Council March 23 agenda there is a staff report recommending an amendment to the Township’s bylaw to increase the maximum permitted height of certain front yard fences. Specifically it is for fences which are open type construction and for lots which are zoned estate residential and rural residential. The new maximum height is 1.83 meters (6 ft.); currently it is 1.22 meters 4 feet).  As reviewed in the report a jurisdictional review was done of comparable municipalities.  I am supportive of this change.  At the Council meeting I will request confirmation that fences existing today, in the identified zones, will be deemed compliant to the amended bylaw provided that they do not exceed the new height.
