There is a new event scheduled for Sunday, Oct.29 4pm: the Beharriell Briefings. Everyone is invited to participate either as an attendee or to make a 3-5 minute “briefing” which presents a solution to one of the four (4) problems identified below. There is no age restriction; all the schools in King Township have been invited to participate by sending a representative from their school to present a briefing of their own choice The Oct. 29 event is the inaugural one to honour Susan Beharriell who was a champion in our community and an advocate for action. The four stated problems are reflective of the passions and interests of Susan. To participate in the audition event register at the thebeharriellbriefings@gmail.com to ensure that there is a spot on the agenda.
The Oct. 29 event is at Laskay Hall at the Heritage & Cultural Centre, 2920 King Road, King City ; it is a free event; all are welcome. (Note: earlier promotion of the event with different time and venue are obsolete.)
The 4 stated problems from which a participant selects one on which to present a briefing (i.e. solution or solutions for the problem).
- There are less people offering continued service to others in their community.
- The rate of biodiversity loss is too great.
- Inclusivity of Indigenous Peoples, their wisdom and cultures are not being respected enough in king Township.
- There is a lack of cooperation and collaboration in King Township to reduce and eliminate the burning of fossil fuel.
