Buildings In Face Of Climate Change

How to mitigate climate change?  Much of the time attention is paid to reducing greenhouse gases as I am doing in my motion being considered at Council on March 18.  But the answer to  building the best houses and other structures in response to climate change is not simply the decision to install a heat pump or geothermal for heating and cooling.  There is the big question as to how to design the house, what materials to use.  To learn more and to ask your question attend the AGM for Climate Action King and listen to Chris Ballard, CEO Passive House Canada on March 27, 7pm at the Heritage and Cultural Centre.

I am unable to attend this meeting which I am so very sorry to miss. With the desire to build new housing quickly, I know the production of concrete will boom. The carbon emission from the production of concrete
is alarming. I wish someone could address this at CAK’s meeting and ask if there is an eco-friendly substitute?

I do know that there is a process for making concrete which produces less GHG…I looked into it several years and got nowhere. Maybe someone reading this post could do some research!
