Committee Of Adjustment: Review by Planning

Oct 16, 2017 | Developments, Policies, Masterplans | 2 comments

Planning Department is proposing to engage more routinely in the Committee of Adjustment (CofA) process.  The latter is the process whereby property owners request “minor variances,” in addition to consent/severance applications.  To date Planning Staff do provide advice on the latter to the Committee but do not for the former.  For reasons identified in the report I believe their plan to provide advice for minor variances is very welcomed.  But, I do wonder about the effort to do so and if it is feasible within current budget.   Here is report.

As indicated, the ultimate decision on minor variance still rests with the Committee.

    Two questions Debbie:

    1. Is the Magna developement still on…have not seen anything lately in the paper.
    2. Re the developement on the east side of Keele across from Norman drive and St Andrews church…we just got back from holidays and the old developement signs are gone and a Land for Sale sign is now up. Was the old proposal for townhouses abandoned..

Hello Don, Yes, Magna is still intending to come to King; recently confirmed. As for what’s happening on east side of Keele. What has changed is that there has been comprehensive consolidation of individual lots. Developer has done extensive planning and has proposed concept which includes town homes. To clarify: this does not mean that an application has been approved by Township. When someone buys the project they will need to submit application and it will be subject to usual process.
