Community Improvement Plan: update and refresh

Dec 12, 2020 | Debbie in the Community | 0 comments

On Dec. 14 agenda there is a report on our Community Improvement Plan (CIP).  I am encouraged by what has occurred since its start in late 2014 and am pleased to see the plans for a refresh.  2019 results show how valuable the Township’s investment can be:  for every Township $ the private sector spent $22.02 to imrove and revitalize their property.  In 2020 the leverage was far less at 1:3 (I have not had opportunity to look at the data to rationalize this; I do recall that previous years were much higher than 2020.) The report identifies several possible additions to eligible grants.  I am very pleased about two of the ideas:  assistance to designated heritage properties and eligibility to properties outside the village cores.  Good to see that there will be attention to simplifying, improving the administrative process.  The report includes the proposed consultation process
