On June 15 council agenda there is a very interesting report recommending that Staff develop Community Planning Permit Systems for identified block plan areas in King Cty and Nobleton. As reviewed in the report the CPPS for each village will clearly be different but the process for developing them will be consistent; accordingly there are efficiencies to doing them simultaneously. I have heard of the concept and have been very interested to see it being used in King City as opposed to the current practice which is essentially responding to individual development applications. Having read the report I now understand why we haven’t used it sooner as it requires a significant investment in terms of education and participation by staff, council and the public if the potential is to be realized. I have several questions which I hope to get answered this evening; one is to understand the proposed boundary for the Block Plan study area in King City.
There will be a presentation about CPPS at Council. From what I understand from the report I think the investment of $100,000 for King City is appropriate as there are significant opportunities to make some brilliant decisions In the proposed Block Plan study area which includes the King City Lions Arena, the former King City Seniors’ Centre.
