Corporate Service Inventory

Sep 23, 2023 | The Issues | 0 comments

On Sept. 25 Council agenda there is a staff report presenting the Inventory of services provided to the community including the standards to be achieved.  For example, how often is the grass cut at the baseball diamonds, what programs are to be offered at Cold Creek.  Value of having this Inventory, to my mind, is that this is the basis for discussions about improving services and for providing performance feedback.  I have just recently had the experience of passing on feedback from a constituent to  appropriate Staff and learned that the perceived expectation had never been “approved” and incorporated into the Staff’s work plan. With the publicly available Inventory there will be a basis for confirming current service level and then can talk about feasibility and cost of upgrading.  The Inventory also includes the funding source:  tax levy, user fee or development charge (DC).  I think that the Inventory will prove to be a valuable resource for community members.  Its may take time to become familiar; accordingly watching the scheduled presentation at the Sept. 25 Council meeting will be worthwhile.
