Dealing with the Ice Storm Mess

Council held a special working session on Monday to debrief on the ice storm and the clean-up effort. Township Staff’s efforts throughout the storm and period of electricity outages is really remarkable. And it is also very clear that our Staff is very aware that the work is not over; plans are coming together to address the huge clean up job. Finally, I was very pleased to hear that there is deliberate effort underway to take advantage of learnings from this natural disaster to better equip our response for the next one.

Plans are not finalized for the clean up. I strongly urge you to check in regularly at www.king.ca for information on the plan.

Week of Jan. 27 there will be yard waste collection in a manner comparable to what is done throughout the summer/fall season i.e. bundling and paper bags will be required. Details about this will be posted at www.king.ca

Later i.e. March or April there will be pick up of branches; that pick up will include a Township chipper. Township will pick up and/or chip branches brought to the front of home, even those from private property. But, Township will not provide arborist services on private property.

Finally, public can dispose of tree branches at the Miller Compost site on Bloomington Sideroad free of charge.
