Heritage & Cultural Centre Designation

On February 23rd Council agenda there is a staff report which is complex to follow because it includes repealing one by law and amending another. The end result will be “a unified, accurate, and comprehensive designation by-law for the King Heritage & Cultural Centre property. This approach ensures consistency in the application of the Ontario Heritage Act, simplifies future heritage permit review processes, strengthens long-term conservation planning for the site, and provides clear direction for property management and public interpretation.”  As reviewed in the report the contemporary history of this property is complex as it includes buildings which were transported to the site at different times and the regulations for heritage protection were often different.

Here is the full statement of cultural heritage value of the property.

As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on February 23 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
