York region is updating it’s official plan to show how growth will be managed through to 2051.  To learm more join a zoom meeting on July 27 4-6pm.  At this session, you will hear about preliminary recommendations on where and how the Region is proposing to accommodate growth needs to 2051 and an overview of the current state of housing, key challenges and opportunities the Region is facing as we continue to grow and develop a full range of housing options. After the presentation there will be an opportunity for questions and answers and to provide feedback. Link to Zoom meeting: https://york.zoom.us/j/93006483222?pwd=dDJPdHJrVW5CWWMwWHRZQU1tN2h3UT09.
No registration is required.

At the June 28th Council meeting there was a report addressing this issue but with specific focus on the impact on King Township. The report included the Township Staff’s proposed feedback to the region. As indicated in the report Staff did not agree with the Region’s proposal to open up the white belt in King; Council strongly endorsed this feedback. Furthermore, Council directed Staff to conduct a consultation in the fall on the subject of where the 3,500 persons should be allocated if we are don’t open up the white belt for that population. (I don’t know whether the presentation on July 27 by York region will incorporate this feedback from King; if they do not I will not interpret that to mean that they have refused the feedback but rather that they did not have opportunity to modify the presentation.)
