Humber River and Carrying Place Trail

There is a special event on Saturday, September 12 from 4-5 PM at Weston Road and 16th Sideroad.  This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with two different aspects of the history of King Township:  the Humber River and The Carrying Place Trail.

In 2014 11 bronze plaques were installed throughout the Humber River watershed to celebrated the 1t5h anniversary of its designation as a Canadian Heritage River.  5 of the plaques include a map of the Carrying Place Trail.

La Société d’histoire de Toronto is commemorating the 1615 Brûlé – Wendat expedition with a recreation of their jouney along Toronto Carrying Place Tail from Samuel de Champlain’s monument in Orillia to the mouth of the Humber.  HIkers will end day 2 of their expedition (i.e. Saturday 9/12) at the 16th Sideroad and Weston Road.  We will be greeting them with food and drink. Here you can learn more about the weekend.  If you want to join the hikers for the 2nd day you can get their full itinerary here.
