Saturday, March 8 is International Women’s Day (IWD) and the King Heritage & Cultural Centre is celebrating with the opening of Resist & Persist, a new women’s art exhibition. For this 4th IWD exhibition at the KHCC, artists were challenged to consider the past, present and future of women’s rights and the struggle for equality, acceptance, and empowerment. The artwork to the left is by Mary Kroetsch and is entitled “Ladies! We Are Not Going To Take This Sitting Down!”  For more details about the opening day see here.

    Thank you Debbie,
What an important day to celebrate! I know in our lifetime, we have come a long way in Canada. However, there is still a significant journey and hard work ahead, especially for women in many other nations. I very much like the idea of celebrating the achievements of countless woman in the struggle for equality, valuable recognition, acceptance and empowerment.
