On the Oct. 30 Council agenda there is report reviewing a new team:  King Environmental Action Team (KEAT).  As indicated the members of KEAT will be implementing actions which will enhance and conserve the natural environment and support climate change mitigation efforts.  I was a member of the Sustainability Advisory Committee and concur with the comments in the report as to the role that SAC played initially and how over its 10 years the need for that kind of committee changed. The actions undertaken by KEAT will be identified through  the community Climate Action Plan and the Corporate Strategic Plan. The report includes a list of actions/projects already identified.  Having  read the list (see below) that I am somewhat confused by the emphasis on tree planting and tree canopy at the end of the report. I know that trees are important and I love trees but there is more.
