Maybe volunteering at Museum is for you

Making a decision or making a commitment, to do something can be intimidating if it is a new experience. Here’s a chance to see if the Museum represents a venue for you to use your creative juices. As identified in the Museum strategy (which I summarized in another post) engagement of volunteers is very important as we move forward.

As 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the start of World War1 our museum curator, Kathleen Fry, wants to mount an exhibit commemorating it. Her vision is to hi-light those from King Township who participated in the War and how it impacted King. She is looking for volunteers. Tasks for the volunteers include further development of the idea/concept of the exhibit, sourcing family photos & letters, researching for text panels and assembling exhibits. Current plan is for the exhibition to run August through November 2014.

If you would be interested in working on this exhibit please contact Kathleen at kingmuseum@king.ca or you can phone her at 905 833 2331 to discuss your interest.

    Hi Debbie!

Humber Crescent in KC was blitzed by several young men representing the Fire Department on Saturday. They checked our houses for adequate and properly working CO2 and smoke monitors. I wanted to pass on my compliments for their professionalism and for a job well done. These thoughts were echoed by several of my neighbours. As it turned out, some of my detectors were about to expire or had just expired and they replaced them for me (and made sure they were in the right spot!) I was very impressed but their service and extremely appreciative of this program.

Great feedback Catherine. I will make sure that Fire Chief hears it! I must apologize for being so slow at posting your comment; I value comments and I usually post them very quickly.
