On May 26 Council agenda there is a recommendation to approve a zoning bylaw amendment to enable an agricultural event venue on a property on Hwy. 27. As reviewed in the report the application has been deemed to be “on farm diversified use.” The specifics of the plan and the site at 14855 Hwy 27 has been carefully assessed against several policies including the PPS which identifies permitted uses within a prime agricultural area. The proposal also meets the policies in our Official Plan about on farm diversified uses in the natural linkage area. Finally the proposal was assessed against the Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance’s position paper on event Barns. I am very comfortable with the recommendation to approve this application.
As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on May 26 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
