Our Archives

On April 12 Council agenda there is a report recommending the transfer of the Archive collection from the King Township Historical Society to the Township.  This transfer is not one of location:  the archives will continue to be at the Heritage & Cultural Centre in the museum.  And at this time the archives will continue to function with the volunteers.  I consider King to have been very fortunate to have had such qualified, diligent and dedicated volunteers; it is with their passion under the management of the King Township Historical Society (KTHS) that the Archives have evolved to its current state.  As indicated in report the KTHS has determined that longevity of the Archives is best ensured with transition to King.  In the future there will likely be proposals as to how to enhance the programming of the archives; such ideas and the funding  of such, will need to be assessed in the context of all the priorities of Council and of Parks, Recreation & Culture
