Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

Protect the Corridor: request on GTA West
On 2/22 Council agenda there is a Staff report recommending that we request the Province to resume and complete the environmental assessment on the GTA West Corridor. (Recall that it was suspended in mid December by Minister Del Duca.) This is consistent with the Council decision 8/24/15 to support the Corridor with some caveats. I do not support building this new highway as I am skeptical...

Or, if you want to plant in your front or side yard (or just like to get your...
By-law Enforcement Annual Report
On Council agenda for 2/22 there is the annual report about bylaw enforcement. In addition to an opportunity to see what kinds of investigations are being carried out and how many, its good to see service enhancements planned and the increase use of information technology. For dog owners living at some distance from Town Hall it is a welcomed improvement to see that on line payment system for...
Lot Severances Annual Review
In Council agenda for 2/22, there is the annual report on lot severances. I am extremely disappointed that Staff's report, in its summary comments, indicates that severances in the villages is consistent with our integrated community sustainability plan; I do not agree. When the plan was written and we talked about the importance of infill and intensification we were not talking about 1 lot at...
