Welcome to my blog! MY primary objective is to alert my constituents and others in King Township about issues being reviewed at the upcoming Council meetings. I do this as I believe the quality of Council decisions is enhanced when the public is engaged. I hope that residents will make deputations and/or send emails to Council to express their opinion and/or to ask important questions. Also, I include notice of meetings and events which I think are particularly important. I welcome your comments, whether you agree or not with me, and only edit to eliminate inappropriate language.

Lot Severances Annual Review
In Council agenda for 2/22, there is the annual report on lot severances. I am extremely disappointed that Staff's report, in its summary comments, indicates that severances in the villages is consistent with our integrated community sustainability plan; I do not agree. When the plan was written and we talked about the importance of infill and intensification we were not talking about 1 lot at...

The land owners (known as the King City East Landowners Group) have made an application for an Official Plan Amendment (OPA); to inform the public as to their plans they are hosting a open house on Wednesday, March 2 6-8PM at the King City Library. If you are interested in the...
Public Meeting for Warren Road Application
As previously reported there is a public meeting at the start of Council on Monday February 8th in response to an application for an Official Plan Amendment (OPA) and a zoning by-law amendment which, if passed, will lead to a consent/severance application. You can read the Staff report here. In addition to the very important question of a severance in an established 30+ year old subdivision...
Choice to be open on statutory holidays
At 2/8 Council, there is a Staff recommendation to approve an application, which if successful, would permit all retail businesses in King Township, at their discretion, to remain open on the 9 statutory holidays. As reviewed in the recommendation the latter is now forbidden under the Retail Business Holiday Act; what is proposed is to apply for a Tourism Exemption. On a personal level I...
