On Dec. 10 agenda there is Staff report recommending a significant change in how to respond to requests for exemptions to the bylaws restricting parking, particularly the restrictions during the winter months. I think the recommended plan sounds excellent: focused on customer/client need, uses technology, cost effective.
I think the winter parking restriction dates ought to be changed from Nov. 1 – April 15 to Nov. 15 – April 30. Why? Because we rarely get significant snowfall in early Nov. but we almost always do in mid to late April. I’m certain snow removal companies and unions know about weather patterns and therefore know they’ll get extra pay for the work after April 15.
