Parks Update

On Council agenda there is report for the final report on Parks & Forestry Services which is part of the  Parks Recreation & Culture (P&RC) Master Plan.  (There is a summary report on the P&RC Masterplan). As reviewed there has been considerable consultation in different ways with public.  There is tremendous amount of detail both about the current services being offered & maintained, for example 272 acres of active parkland across 4 kinds/sizes of parks each with various amenities 67 km of trails.  And there is identification of future needs due to increased population and changing service desires.  As reviewed quality parks are not achieved without staff; when compared to other municipalities our Staff are outperforming.  The report on Parks and Forestry Services concludes with 13 recommendations to guide work through to 2023.  (Note:  the report is predominantly focussed on Parks; I will be asking about Forestry Services.)  I urge you look at the report and check out the services you are interested in. e.g. soccer fields, play structures etc.
