Public Art Policy

On April 14 Council agenda there is a staff report recommending a public art policy.  I totally concur that such a policy is required and I am very satisfied with what is being proposed for that policy.  A well-defined Public Art Policy provides a framework for the selection, funding, and maintenance of artworks, ensuring that they are thoughtfully integrated into the urban landscape and preserved for future generations.   I think the proposed public art reserve funding is a good idea and appropriate. Here is the proposed policy.  And here is the procedure: the actual steps followed to acquire and deliver a piece of public art per the proposed policy. The council report also includes 3 concepts for public art. I will be asking for clarification as to the status of these concepts. Looking at these concepts is an excellent way to appreciate how public art can truly contribute value to the community.

As always deputations can be made. To do so please register at clerks@king.ca by noon on  April 14 or If you prefer you can e-mail your comments to clerks@king.ca and they will be distributed to Council members and appropriate staff.
