Public Meeting for draft subdivision on Dufferin

Dec 2, 2022 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

On December 5 there is a public meeting for applications for a zoning bylaw amendment and draft subdivision for property west side of Dufferin north of the rail line.  The proposal is for a residential development comprised of two 5 story condominium buildings and townhomes; total residential units will be 347.  The application is consistent with the Official Plan in that “Our King” designates the area for mixed use and natural heritage.  The zoning bylaw amendment is required as it is currently zoned employment general.  Given that the current zoning is employment and that industrial operations have occurred there for years I think it is unfortunate that there is no commercial in the proposal even though a small portion would be permitted given the definition of mixed use in the Schomberg King City Zoning Bylaw.  I am also curious as to why this is called a “greenfield” development as it has already been developed years ago for industrial purposes; I would have expected this to be considered as intensification.

This is the statutory public meeting no decisions will be made.  As always you can register to make a deputation verbally or you send an email and it will be sent to Council.  To register and/or send an email please do so by noon on December; contact clerks@king.ca.

This is the first meeting with the new Council!  We are continuing to hold our meetings in a manner that you can observe the meeting on live stream.  Council wants to move to hybrid meetings whereby you could watch the livestream OR attend; but equipment has not yet arrived.
