Recycle Bins: 360 litre or apply for smaller

Dec 6, 2025 | Miscellaneous, Uncategorized | 5 comments

As announced earlier starting December 31, 2025, King Township will no longer manage recycling as mandated by the Province of Ontario. Ahead of this transition, households received a 360-litre recycling cart from Circular Materials  (CM). If this size doesn’t suit your needs, you can now request a smaller 240-litre cart by submitting a Recycling Cart Exchange Request Form online. Residents experiencing a temporary or permanent physical disability that prevents them from setting out their recycling bin or cart at the curb may qualify for assisted collection service through the Special Accommodation Recycling Service Application. Both request forms are available at circularmaterials.ca/king.

For more information, such as the new items which can now be included as recycle see here.

Thank you Debbie! I think the 240 L cart will be more manageable for many residents.

The N6 Mayors pushed hard to get a smaller option…ideally more than one but secured only one.

The alternative bins are really not physically a whole lot smaller & are not of a size that would be particularly more manageable to help anyone with a drive, on a hill or long, down which to wheel their bin.

I see only the same formats, which have now been offered in King, in use Toronto for blue & grey & green bins

Our mayor is not at all satisfied with what is being offered as an alternative. If you have not done so suggest letter to Premier and our MPP expressing your concerns. To clarify…as someone with along driveway with a change in elevation I do understand. Its not in municipal scope anymore.

Seriously, Deb. You are the best. Circular Materials will allow a one-time per address switch. Finding the new dimension was difficult but it appears the bin is shorter and 6″ less long. Means less footprint in the garage.
