On June 15 Council agenda there is a recommendation to approve works outlined in the heritage permit application for the property located on Lloydtown Aurora Rd. which contains the Edward Pottage House, a brick farmhouse built circa 1876. The property is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act and the owner is seeking permission to undertake proposed restorative works on the dwelling. As reviewed in the report the heritage permit application is not designed to prevent alterations but to guide and manage change in the best way possible and to ensure that any cultural significant heritage attributes identified will not be adversely impacted by any alteration works. To approve the application the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada (2010) has been used as a standard. The property owners have applied for a heritage grant of $6000 to put towards the project. I’m very supportive of both approving the project and of the grant, To learn more about the project go to Council agenda and scroll to 12.4.
